When we think about ‘tools’, typically the hammer and construction type items are thought of first, followed by items used either around the home or garden. Tools are, as the name suggests, items that have been invented to aid in our everyday lives, and nowadays they are everywhere we look.
In the classroom, we have tools that helps us learn and wonder, and other tools that help to maintain a level of living, such as kitchen appliances, bedroom furniture and even the mode of transport that we take.
Learning about tools and using them in various activities not only enhances children’s cognitive and motor skill development, but it also fosters creativity, problem-solving, and wonder about the world we live in.
